Wyoming Elk Rifle

We have two openers for our elk areas the first being on October 1 this is a smaller unit but we most generally bring the bulls in with a bugle or cow call. This also is conducted on horseback but there is some access on ATV. This is a lottery tag that you apply for in January. Hunter guide ratio is 2 on 1. In the past we have been 80% harvest on 5 and 6 point bulls which fall in the 280 to 320 class. The second opener is October 15th which is a much larger area and also is conducted on horses, and some area available with an ATV. This hunt is also a 2 hunter to guide ratio. And also a lottery tag basis. Bulls also range in the 280-320 class. Both hunts are based out of our lodge and we truck and trailer to various trailheads. Shots on this hunt can be from 50 feet to 500 yards. Again the better you know your weapon and limitations the better.

Idaho Elk Rifle

We have two areas in Idaho we hunt from.

  • This first is a very hard to draw. Controlled hunt in 66A. There are only 200 bull tags available. We get a few outfitter allocated tags for this area. This hunt opener is the 15th of October and runs through the end of the month. Very good elk numbers and great trophy potential in this area. Average bulls are in the 300+ class range. This is a 2 to 1 hunt also and will be based out of our lodge and hunts will be off horseback.
  • The second is an over the counter open bull area which has good elk numbers. This area is not a trophy area but produces very nice 5 and 6 point bulls every year in the 260-300 inch class. This area we have a drive in tent camp with all the modern day amenities. We also use horses to on this hunt. Both of our Idaho areas can be combined with a mule deer hunt. In the first area you can purchase a deer tag over the counter and the second area is on a lottery draw.
